Welcome
I understand that choosing to begin therapy is a meaningful step - whether you're facing difficulty in relationships, stressed, experiencing a major life event or transition, feeling depressed, anxious, or seeking greater balance and personal growth. Whatever brings you here, therapy offers a safe and supportive space where your thoughts and emotions can be explored without judgment.
Working together in a confidential setting, therapy gives you the opportunity to reflect, gain clarity, and uncover patterns that may be holding you back. The complexities of our experiences sometimes leave us feeling isolated or misunderstood—especially when it's hard to talk openly with those around us. Therapy isn't about quick fixes, but about forming a relationship that can offer you deeper insights, developing greater emotional awareness and fresh perspectives.
About Me
I am a BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist, with over 30 years experience of working therapeutically in a wide range of settings. I have worked both privately and as an advanced practitioner for the NHS, Local Authorities, Bristol University and for charities in Bristol and in London. Whilst I work with a broad range of issues, I have specialist experience and interest in anxiety, relational difficulties, addictions, trauma, women’s mental health, life transitions and later life.
In addition to my private practice, I use creative therapies (including art, nature and mindfulness) in my work with young people for the local authority. I also teach Pilates, a discipline which strengthens the mind-body connection and I encourage a sense of somatic awareness in all of my work.
I have an interest in the spheres of culture, society, family, politics, social justice and the ways in which these interconnect and influence how we experience our lives. In my work I draw from my substantial professional experience of working with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds as well as my own lived experiences.
How I Work
I am trained as a relational Integrative psychotherapist, which means that I am qualified to use a range of different therapeutic models in my work. I predominantly use Psychodynamic, Existential and Humanist perspectives. I find that using this relational style of therapy allows us to focus on previous relational patterns, how you experience the 'here and now,' as well as the possibilities of change.
I have regular supervision, engage with my own personal development and CPD and am committed to working with boundaries and integrity, and within the BACP ethical framework.
I offer both open ended, and short term therapy, and we can establish what would be most suitable for you in your initial consultation.
Sessions are on a weekly basis and are 50 minutes.
